Abstrak

Disability in leprosy patients was still a public health problem. In Indonesia in 2022, the grade 2 disability rate will be 2.4 per 100,000 population. Not only does it reduce productivity, but this also causes sufferers to have low self-confidence. This community service aims to increase the motivation of leprosy patients and former patients to carry out self-care in an effort to prevent disability or maintain the condition of disability due to leprosy. Demonstration methods and examples with an adult approach were applied in this community service in an effort to create motivation to carry out self-care at home. A total of 25 leprosy patients from Jonggon Village Kutai Kartanegara District took part and the results of the activity showed an increase in knowledge and self-care actions. Self-care activities that did not change much at the end of the activity were applying moisturizing oil to dry hands and feet and using glasses when doing activities outside the home. There is an increase in knowledge and self-care actions and there was motivation for leprosy patients to consistently carry out self-care at home. monitoring and evaluation of self-care groups continuously could maintain and even increase the motivation of leprosy sufferers towards self-care thereby preventing disability.
