PENGENALAN PEMANFAATAN TEKNOLOGI PENGINDERAAN JAUH UNTUK IDENTIFIKASI EKOSISTEM PERAIRAN PESISIR
Abstrak
Remote sensing technology in the analysis of environmental potential and spatial changes has infiltrated almost every sector. The importance of spatial data in environmental analysis has becomes essential, posing a challenge to introduce it early to the public to raise awareness technology’s role in environmental management, particularly in coastal and marine environments. In this regard, it is necessary to adopt an educational approach to introduce this concept, involving early knowledge transfer from higher educatio institutions to the community, especially early introduction to high school students who have already gained theory and practice of environmental and ecosystem studies. The purpose of this training activity is to transfer knowledge from higher education institutions to the public, with a focus on early education about remote sensing technology. The objective is to provide insights and knowledge about this remote sensing technology and train student’s skills in utilizing remote sensing data for the purpose of identifying coastal ecosystem areas. The approach used in this training involves providing tutorials through lectures and hands-on practices for students. The training activity was conducted at SMP Negeri 2 Kuta and SMP Negeri 3 Kuta Selatan. Training on the utilization of remote sensing technology for identification of coastal ecosystems identification is highly effective when deivered to secondary school students. This help broaden participant’s knowledge regarding the existing technological developments. Evaluation results from the training indicate that the participants have significantly improved their understanding of remote sensing technology and coastal ecosystems. Thus, this educational approach holds significant potential in enhancing students comprehension of the role of remote sensing technology in coastal environmental management, while also encouraging their participation en ecosystem preservation efforts.
