Alasan Intervensi Kanada Terhadap Kasus Penangkapan Aktivis HAM di Arab Saudi Tahun 2018
Abstrak
This article analyse the reasons of Canada’s intervention in the case of the detention of Human Rights activits named Samar Badawi in Saudi Arabia in 2018. Before the problems heppened, the relations between two countries were good. In this case, Canada has carried ouw Low Coercion Intervention in the form of speeches and statements of the Human Rights Activist in Saudi Arabia. The intervention then led to a break in diplomatic relations bwtween Canada and Saudi Arabia. The severing of diplomatic relations was followed by the repatriation of the Canada’s Ambassador in Saudi Arabia back to Canada and repatriation of Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador back to Riyadh. There actions were followed by any cases, the transferred of Saudi Arabian students in Canada, stop the flight from and to Canada. Under the government of F. Trudeau, Human Rights is one of so many international issues that took Canada’s and Canada’s foreign policy’s attention. Using desctiptive method based on the theory of Foreign Policy and Domestic Politics by William D. Coplin there are four determinants that influence the country’s policy. There are International Context, Economic and Military, Domestic Politic, and decision making behavior. The writers of this article is using the Domestic Politic consideration to analyze. There are four actors, and the writers using two actors, bureaucratic policy and partisan influencers that influence domestic policy and referred to as Policy Influencers. The teory then, explained the reasons of Canada’s Intervention in Saudi Arabia.
