Abstrak

In order to describe Japan’s intention, this research describes how Japan reached its interest in becoming a pioneer for space debris removal. Space debris issue is a contemporary issue in International Relations studies. Space debris issue indicates that national interest has reached outer space. Therefore, Japan wishes to be a pioneer in space debris removal in order to reach another interest. National Interest and Space Diplomacy are the concepts being used for this paper. This paper indicates that national interest might drive a country to work with the private sector. This was proven by a collaboration between Japan and Astroscale.
